Run-time error 339: <filename> or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid.
There is no one cause for error 339. It can occur because of an incomplete installation, an incomplete uninstall, improper deletion of applications or hardware. It can also be caused if your computer is recovered from a virus or adware/spyware attack or by an improper shutdown of the computer.
Here are the steps that will normally fix error 339:
• Method 1: Update or Reinstall
1. Logon as Administrator.
2. Update Legacy or reinstall (ver. 8 or earlier). Often missing or out-of-date files will be replaced when updating/reinstalling. This fixes error 339 about 80 percent of the time.
NOTE: Temporarily disable spyware scanners or antivirus programs when downloading. If a spyware scanner wants to remove a file like ActBar.ocx, do not allow it to do so, or the problem will keep repeating.
For Legacy: Go to https://legacyfamilytree.com/DownloadUpdate.asp to download and run the Legacy Update file.
For Legacy 8 or earlier: Go to http://support.legacyfamilytree.com/article/AA-00899 and download the final revision (build) of your version.
5. Try Legacy again.
• Method 2: Download Missing File and Register It
1. Logon as Administrator.
2. If error 339 indicates the one of the following files is the problem click on it to download.

If you have a 32-bit operating system download to C:\Windows\System32\
If you have a 64-bit operating system download to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\
2. Click on the Start button, and then in the search field right above it type CMD and then right click the Command Prompt option and choose run as administrator. The Command prompt window will open.
3. Next:
If you have a 32-bit operating system type CD C:\Windows\System32 and press Enter.
If you have a 64-bit operating system type CD C:\Windows\SysWOW64 and press Enter.
Please note that in the example below the ltocx11n.ocx file is being registered on a 64-bit computer. Your Command prompt screen will look somewhat different depending on your operating system and which file you are registering.
4. Next:
Type the regsvr32, a space and the name of the file you downloaded and then press Enter.
5. Click OK in the message box indicating success.
6. Try Legacy again.
• Method 3: Run Microsoft Safety Scan and SFC Scan
1. Run the Microsoft Safety Scanner. Please visit http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx.
2. Use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows. Please visit http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833.
3. Try Legacy again.
