2. If the setup screen does not automatically open, browse to the setup file on the CD using Windows Explorer/My Computer, then open the setup and click Next.
3. You will not be prompted for a password, you may be prompted for your customer number.
4. Don't change any settings, just keep clicking Next.
5. When the setup is complete, click the Finish button.

Guidelines for installing on Windows 8, Windows 7 and Windows Vista computers:

• Don't install from Legacy 6.0 or earlier CDs as they may not be not fully compatible (depends on if they were issued prior to Windows 7).
• Install Legacy Family Tree from our website. This version is fully compatible with Windows Vista and higher and has the latest enhancements and patches for that version.
• When installing Legacy, don't make any changes to the setup location. Just keep clicking Next.
• For Legacy 7.5 and earlier, some users may need to set the system's User Account Control (UAC) to "Never Notify” for Windows 8 or Windows 7 if they have trouble unlocking the Deluxe features or experience other problems in the program, such as Legacy not retaining new information or settings. (Not needed for Legacy 8.0.)

     (1) Please open the Control Panel, and click on the User Accounts icon.
     (2) Next click on Change User Account Control settings.
     (3) Move the slider bar to the bottom, Never Notify; then click OK to reboot your computer.

• For Windows Vista, make sure the User Account Control (UAC) feature is enabled; otherwise you may get run-time error 339 or may experience other problems in the program.

     (1) Open the Control Panel and click on the User Accounts icon.
     (2) Click on the link for Turn User Account Control (UAC) on or off. (You need to give Windows permission to continue).
     (3) Check mark the box, then click OK, and reboot your computer. Legacy should run properly now.
