Error connecting to FamilySearch servers with Legacy FamilySearch - Also Error 404 connecting to FamilySearch servers with Legacy FamilySearch

There are two major causes of this error:

• The Legacy program needs to be updated to handle changes in API calls made in the FamilySearch servers. Please click here: Download Legacy Update

• The user account name and/or password are incorrect. Although Legacy FamilySearch can save your login information, it can become corrupted. Please verify that your user name and password are entered properly. If you continue to have problems, contact FamilySearch Support because user account names and passwords are issued only by them.  To contact FamilySearch Customer Service please visit https://familysearch.org/ask/help#customerService.

If you have Legacy FamilySearch 7.5, you will get 'Error 404 connecting to FamilySearch servers with Legacy FamilySearch'.  Legacy FamilySearch 7.5 now longer connects to FamilySearch.org. You must upgrade to Legacy Family Tree 8.0.

1. Make sure that your Internet connection is working.
2. The FamilySearch website might be down temporarily. Try again later.
3. Make sure that your computer's firewall has LegacyFS.exe added to its list of trusted programs. Check the Help system for your firewall software for the steps to do this.

    LegacyFS.exe is located at:

    For 32-bit Windows OS   C:\Program Files\Legacy8\FamilySearch\LegacyFS.exe

For 64-bit Windows OS   C:\Program Files (x86)\Legacy8\FamilySearch\LegacyFS.exe

4. We had a user recently who could not connect because she had three antivirus programs and two firewalls running on her system. Uninstalling the redundant security programs fixed her connectivity problem instantly.
