The Name List is blank in Legacy FamilySearch

Changing the Name List filtering options a few times may cause the filtered lists to no longer populate. Try the following steps in the order given.  When one works, you can stop.

• First click the Refresh button on the right side above the FamilySearch person and then click the Reload button to reload your Legacy person. Sometimes Legacy FamilySearch is holding on to old data and this will clear it out and this may be all you have to do.

• Close Legacy FamilySearch and then re-open it. Sometimes restarting a program will fix problems.

• Close Legacy FamilySearch and then start Legacy Family Tree.  Click on File on the menu bar and select File Maintenance > Check/Repair and proceed with the repair. If any error messages occur during the Check/Repair process, click No in the error message box so that the repair steps can finish. Do Check/Repair twice if errors are found.  Next, start Legacy FamilySearch and click on File and select File Maintenance > Check and Repair.

If none of the above work, a fresh re-installation of Legacy will resolve the problem. Please see the article "Uninstall - how to do a complete and totally clean removal of Legacy". To do a fresh download of Legacy Family Tree Deluxe, please visit http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/DownloadNewLegacy8Deluxe.asp and use your Legacy customer number to unlock the deluxe features.

This re-installation process will wipe out any customized setting you have made. If you want to keep them, please see Backup - How to backup user customization files (Legacy) for the steps to back them up. (Be aware that sometimes it's the customized settings that are the cause of a problem and restoring the settings may bring the problem back.)
