If you are using the SourceWriter system templates (Legacy Family Tree version 7.0 and higher only), click Add a New Source in the Assigned Sources List. Next, in the Step 1 screen, type a keyword, such as obituary, and then click Search. Next select the kind of source you want to cite and then click Go to Step 2 and follow the prompts. You can also just scroll through the list to choose the type of source and click Go to Step 2.

To add sources, please click Assigned Sources icon (it looks like books) for someone. This icon can be seen in Family View at the bottom of the Husband and Wife boxes, and is also in each person’s Information screen. In the Assigned Sources screen click Add a New Source in the Assigned Sources List. Next, in the Step 1 screen, type a keyword, such as obituary, and then click Search. Next select the kind of birth certificate that you have and then click Go to Step 2 and follow the prompts. You can also just scroll through the list to choose the type of source and click Go to Step 2.

For more information about the SourceWriter, please see the free Webinar Sources and Citations Made Simple, Standard, and Powerful at http://familytreewebinars.com/download.php?webinar_id=201. This 1hr. 39 min. presentation will answer all of your questions.

Detailed guidance is available by clicking the Help button in any of the SourceWriter windows that you are currently working in.

I also recommend the Legacy Video Training CDs - Volume 1 which includes "Legacy's Ultimate Guide to Sources" (40 minutes and has been updated for version 7). Please visit http://www.legacyfamilytreestore.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=CS3 for more information.
