Please make sure you have the latest build of Legacy by either updating from the Legacy Home tab in Legacy or by going to http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/DownloadUpdate.asp. Some users may still have to temporarily disable their Internet security software during installation.

Many Legacy users have Internet security software (firewall, antivirus program, popup blocker, anti-spyware program, etc.) that blocks Legacy from downloading. To get around this, the makers of many of these applications have instructions for adding programs like Legacy to an "Allowed" or "Trusted" or "Exception" list.

Some of the programs that will block Legacy include programs made by: AnVir, Avast, BitDefender, Charter High Speed Internet Security, Comodo, Eset, F-Secure, Kaspersky, McAfee, Norton/Symantec, ParetoLogic, Trend Micro, WebRoot, etc.

The above list is not comprehensive. Please make sure that Legacy Family Tree is given permission in these programs to access the Internet. Consult the makers' Help for the steps to do this.

We have occasionally seen users who have more than one anti-virus and more than one firewall program on their computer and we could not get Legacy to connect to the Internet until only one anti-virus and one anti-spyware program was installed. If you have redundant Internet security programs installed on your computer, please delete the extra ones.
