1. Please make sure your plotter is set by clicking on the round "File" button (looks like a circle with a pedigree chart) in the very upper left corner of Legacy Charting and then select Print Setup. The behavior of your plotter and the available options for paper size, orientation and layout are determined by its print driver; not by Legacy. In some instances users may need to download an updated print driver from the manufacturer's web site.
2. Instead of printing directly from Legacy Charting, save your chart as a PDF file by clicking on Publish, then selecting Export to File and choosing PDF. A PDF file is used at places like Fed-Ex/Kinkos, Office Depot, Staples or a local printer to print large wall charts on their plotters.
3. The PDF page width limit is 200 inches. If your chart is too big, click on Appearance and experiment with the settings for Themes, Box Items and Sizing Options. The right combination of options can reduce the width of your chart significantly.
4. If the above steps don't help, then click on Publish and select Order Chart. The orders are sent to Family ChartMasters (formerly called Generation Maps) with any questions about chart size, turn around times, etc. Their contact information is: Family ChartMasters P.O. Box 1080 Pleasant Grove, Utah 84062 (801) 872-4278 info@familychartmasters.com If you order your chart from within the Charting program the limits are outlined below:
Plotter paper only comes in three widths, 24", 36", and 42" wide. You can print your chart on one of these paper widths. The length of the chart can be up to 12 feet long. If your chart is wider than 42", you can have it printed in two or more strips.
