When you keep media on a network drive, Legacy 8's Media Relinker might not find it unless you map the media folder as drive letter and share it. This is also true of the family file if you keep it on a network drive as well. How you map a folder and share a drive is done varies depending on the version of Windows. To quote from the Legacy manual, "Our technical support staff can answer questions only about Legacy. Questions about Microsoft Windows... cannot be answered. For help with Windows, please consult your Windows user guide" (Legacy 8 User Guide, p. 283). Here are steps on how to do this for each version of Windows:

Windows 10 - visit http://www.laptopmag.com/articles/map-network-drive-windows-10

Windows 8 - visit
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/create-shortcut-to-map-network-drive and http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/share-files-folders

Windows 7 - visit http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/create-shortcut-map-network-drive#1TC=windows-7 and http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/file-sharing-essentials#1TC=windows-7

Windows Vista - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/create-shortcut-map-network-drive#1TC=windows-vista and http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/file-sharing-essentials#1TC=windows-vista
