When was an individual's information last modified? When was my file last modified?

• Last Modified Window

To open the Last Modified window click on the Modified Date area in the lower right corner of the main window.  (Click on the small box that appears when your mouse cursor hovers over that area.)

The Last Modified window shows a grid displaying the date and time when the Husband, Wife and Marriage records were added and last modified, along with a field showing if the records originated from an import.

On any input or edit screen, clicking Save updates the Modified Date entry even if no change has been made to the information.  To avoid this update if no change has been made to the information, use Close or Cancel to exit the window.

Note:  If you change marriage information for a couple, the modified dates for the marriage and for each of the individuals is updated.

• Creating a list of last modified records

You can create a list of modified records by date:

1. Click Search on the menu bar and select Find to open the Search window.
2. Click on the Detailed Search tab and then set the following Primary Conditions:

    Look for whom? = Individual
Where to look = Modified Date
How to look = [Equal To, Before, After, Not Equal To]
What to look for = [Date]

You are now ready to create your Search List.

3. Select Clear List before this search and then click Create List.

4. The Search List (a subset of the Name List) will then open.

5. The problem with this Search List is that it does not show the Modified Dates.  The next step is turn the Search List into CSV file that can be sorted by Modified Dates. Click the Print button at the bottom of the screen to open the List Report Options screen where you next click the button to open Customize screen.

a. First, click one of the buttons in the Customize screen to open the Field Names to Display screen.
b. Second, highlight Date: Modified.
c. Third click the Select button and the
Field Names to Display screen will close.
d. Close the Customize screen to get back to the List Report Options screen. If you need more information, please click the Help button the screen you have questions about.

6. Next, check mark RIN, Surname, Given names and UpDate. Finish by selecting the CSV file option (lower right) and click Create (upper right).

7. When done you will have a CSV file that can be opened, customized and sorted in a spreadsheet program like MS Excel.

• Finding family file modified dates

You can use your computer's Windows Explorer to see a list of family files by modified date on your computer.

  2. Files can be sorted by clicking on the Date modified column header. The dates can be sorted in either ascending or descending order by clicking on the column header a second time.

• Finding a family file's modified date by opening its Properties window
