How to match a person to the Family Tree at FamilySearch.org

1. First of all, make sure that your Legacy Family Tree 8.0 has the current update by visiting http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/DownloadUpdate.asp, even if you just installed the program. Due to recent major changes at the FamilySearch web site this step is absolutely critical. If your program does not have the current update, none of the following steps will make any difference.

2. Gray Legacy FamilySearch arrows mean this person has not been matched with someone in the Family Tree.  Click the gray arrows to start.

3. If Legacy FamilySearch can not find a match, add more information, or try a different event (for example change Marriage to Birth) and click Search. Try matching a surrounding family member first, like a spouse, parents or child.

4. Examine the possible matches information carefully. If the match is good, click This person is the same as mine.

5. If Legacy still cannot find a match, add your person to FamilySearch.
