Error 7 - Out of memory

1. Please update your Legacy program.

After updating, try Legacy again. If the errors persist, please do the following:

2. Try reducing the size of your family file by compacting it (click on File and select File Maintenance > Compact Family File and click Proceed.
3. Delete from the Legacy folder on your hard drive files that end with a .USR extension.

4. Run File Maintenance  (File > File MaintenanceCheck/Repair). Next try Legacy again.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem, export your records into a new Legacy family file:

  1. Click on File > Export > Export to a new Legacy Family File.
  2. Give your new family file a name and click Save and the Legacy Export screen will open.
  3. Click the Privacy Options button to open the Privacy Options screen.
  4. In the lower half of the screen, under Override Private Settings, click the Check All button and then click Save.
  5. In the Legacy Export screen check mark Include general To-Do items and then click Start the Export.
  6. If the AutoSource Reminder screen opens, click the Don't Assign a Source button.
  7. The export will begin. When it's complete click OK.
  8. When asked "Would you like to open the file you just export to?" click the Yes button.
  9. Use the new family file and delete the old one when you are satisfied with the results.
