Error 91 - Backing up:

The backup problem that some of our users experience has discussed many times on the Legacy User Group and our technical support staff has worked frequently with users who get this problem. So far we have not been able to duplicate the error on our computers and do not know its cause or solution. If Legacy has any difficulty creating a backup file, try these solutions:

1. Users have reported that they can successfully backup from any tab EXCEPT the Family tab. They get error-free backups from the Legacy Home, Pedigree, Descendant, Chronology and Index tabs.
2. Some Legacy users have reported that check marking only Legacy family file (data) allows them to backup without error 91.
3. Reset Legacy’s temporary folder by clicking on Options on the menu bar, then select Customize and click the Locations tab. Next, click the Reset button for the 'Location of Temporary Files'.
4. Work-around: For users of Windows XP and higher, Open the Data folder, then right-click on your family file and select Send To > Compressed (zipped) folder on the popup menu. The backup file is then created in the Data folder.
5. Work-around: Use WinZip. This program can be downloaded free by visiting
http://www.winzip.com/.
6. Sometimes the backup problem can be resolved by updating Legacy after deleting a couple of files.

1) Browse into:

    C:\Windows\System32 (for 32-bit WINDOWS COMPUTERS)

    C:\Windows\SysWOW64 (for 64-bit WINDOWS COMPUTERS)

2) Delete the XCEEDZIP.DLL file.

3) Next browse into:

    LEGACY 8 and 9:

C:\Program Files\Legacy (for 64-bit WINDOWS COMPUTERS)
C:\Program Files (x86)\Legacy (for 32-bit WINDOWS COMPUTERS)

    LEGACY 7.5 OR EARLIER: C:\Legacy

4) Delete the Legacy application (executable file). You can recognize it because it looks like the Legacy icon and if you right click on it and select Properties from the popup menu its file type will be “Application (.exe)”.

5) Next update Legacy to the last version by visiting:

LEGACY: http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/DownloadUpdate.asp

LEGACY 8 OR EARLIER: http://support.legacyfamilytree.com/article/AA-00899 and download the final revision (build) of your version.
