Legacy Charting - Only 4 Generations Are Showing

The free Standard Edition of Legacy and Legacy Charting will allow for only 4 generations in charts. If you have the Deluxe Edition and still are getting only 4 generations, please make sure you have the Deluxe features unlocked in Legacy by going to Help > General Information.:

If your deluxe features are not unlocked, please open Legacy Family Tree and click on Help on the menu and then select Unlock Legacy Deluxe.* Next fill in your name (any way you wish) and your deluxe customer number, then make sure that I purchased the Deluxe Edition of Legacy is select and click the Continue button. 

You will know that you were successful because you will get a “Congratulations” message. You can check the status of your Legacy edition at anytime by clicking on Help and selecting General Information. The screen will show you in large blue letters either Legacy Deluxe Edition or Legacy Standard Edition.

If this does not solve the problem of the 4-generation limit in Charting, try:

1.    Right click Legacy Family Tree icon on the desktop screen
2.    Click Run this program as an Administrator
3.    Right click Legacy Charting icon on the desktop screen
4.    Try Charting again

You can also try resetting your customer number.

1. Go to Help > General Information and make a note of your customer number
2. Close Legacy and navigate to the c:\Legacy folder (v7.5 and earlier) or Documents/LegacyFamilyTree/_AppData folder and delete the Legacy*.LIC file - replace the * with the version number of Legacy that you're using
3. Go back into Legacy and go to Help > Unlock Legacy Deluxe to unlock the Deluxe features again.
