Legacy corrupted my family file when I opened/converted it.

Your family file probably had existing errors that resulted in additional corrupted data, scrambled links or lost sources, etc. when it was converted to the latest build of Legacy. The solution is to start over in your earlier version of Legacy and fix any problems in the original, unconverted family file. Then you can open and convert in the current version.

1. Start your previous Legacy Family Tree program (whatever earlier version you have).

2. Open your original, unconverted family file, or restore your file from your backup file.

3. Click on File > File Maintenance >  Check/Repair and proceed with the repair. Do the Check/Repair twice and fix any problems shown in the Error.Log.

4. Next, export all of your records into a new family file which you will use in the current version of Legacy. Click on File > Export To > Legacy file. and follow the screen prompts.

5. Close your older version of Legacy and start the current version of Legacy.

6. Update your current version of Legacy by visiting http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/DownloadUpdate.asp.

7. Open and convert the file you just created by exporting.
